Menger Academy
The Menger Academy constitutes the in-person* pedagogical division of the Carl Menger Institute, offering an unparalleled diploma program in anthropoethical economics and cognate disciplines for a select cohort of future scholars, public intellectuals, and entrepreneurs.
Objectives of the Menger Academy
- To provide a comprehensive and rigorous instruction in the ordinal theories, deductive methodologies, and a-priori findings of anthropoethical economics, accentuating its distinctive contributions to the entrepreneurial market process, the coordinative function of prices, and the institutional framework of human prosperity;
- To explore the social, legal, and ethical foundations of a well-functioning market order predicated on market jurisprudence, private money, and organically-evolved norms of resource stewardship and reciprocity;
- To nurture an appreciation for the entrepreneurial dynamism of the market as a discovery process that generates knowledge, aligns incentives, and propels progressive enhancements in productivity and living standards;
- To furnish a forum for critical engagement with alternative economic paradigms and an exploration of the advantages of anthropoethical economies vis-à-vis conventional (i.e., so-called “orthodox”) economic systems;
- To equip students with the analytical tools and x-disciplinary knowledge required to extend the frontiers of anthropocentric economics and apply its insights to contemporary debates in theory and praxis.
Graduates of the Menger Academy will emerge with a firm grasp of the variegated economic, social, and institutional factors, which enable markets to coordinate economic activity and promote social cooperation. Those who complete the rigorous ten-pillar core curriculum and successfully defend an original thesis will be conferred a Diploma in Market Economics and invited to pursue scholarly opportunities at the Institute. Upon completion, select graduates may be offered positions as adjunct faculty, through which they will foster a continuous cycle of intellectual growth and the cross-pollination of our ideas and ideals within the Institute's academic ecosystem.
